Skills: Graphic Design, Visual Identity & Branding, Creative Direction, Production Design
Tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma

Throughout my 10-week internship, I had the opportunity to work with the Creative and Online teams.
While the Creative team is responsible for the art and creative direction of the 360 marketing campaigns, the
Online team creates the digital assets found on the company’s website and social media pages.

My work with the Creative team focused on assisting with the ideation and creative direction of the
Bb.seaweed campaign through moodboards and archival research. This proved to be an interesting challenge as
we sought to incorporate elements of the natural world in a way that felt authentic to the brand’s existing identity.

With the Online team, I was responsible for the creation of various digital assets. Primarily, I designed marketing
emails, flyers and other promotional materials. With this, I learned to adapt quickly to the team’s existing workflow.
The hero asset is created in Photoshop, then assembled with the other components of the email on Figma. Because there
was an extensive library of templates and icons on Figma that I was able to utilize, I found the process to be efficient and streamlined.

Additionally, I supported the production of various assets, seamlessly converting them from Photoshop to Figma files. This was
completed for 9+ assets depicting the scents of different products to be used on the online product page.

As the head of the first Design and Social Media section at Pacific Ties, I fostered the talents and energy
of our designers, directing them through a complete rebranding effort. This involved the creation of a
new logo and design system to improve brand consistency across all platforms.

Countless different fish sketches and shades of turquoise later, I’m proud to have been a part of Pacific
Ties’ rebrand. Designing a new logo posed unique challenges, as it was difficult to choose one symbol
that properly encapsulated the multitude of experiences, perspectives and cultures represented under
the APIDA label. Such a symbol does not exist, and I am glad to say so. It would be a disservice to
the diversity within the APIDA community to have a single, monolithic representation of it. Our team
opted for something simpler to evoke the feeling of our common identity, while still maintaining a sense
of joy and nostalgia--the fish. In reference to the Pacific Ocean, which is often the only unifying factor amidst
these different cultures, the fish felt powerful in celebrating our similarities without emphasizing our differences.

Social Media Manager @ Pacific Ties Newsmagazine

Skills:
Graphic Design, Social Media Marketing
Tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)

Prior to the merging of the Design and Social Media teams, I had the opportunity to focus solely
on our online presence as the social media manager. During this time, I grew my skills as both a graphic
designer and project manager through the coordination of promotional graphics to be posted alongside
newly published articles. This role challenged me to improve my organization and communication
abilities across different teams, as I was constantly interacting with our editor-in-chief to confirm which
articles would be published that week, our writers to ensure that my design aligned with their creative vision,
and our copy editors to confirm the accuracy of our information. During this period, I created and posted
over 30 graphics on the Pacific Ties Instagram page (@pacifictiesmag), growing our following from 500 to 800.
